Organizer offers 20,000 free E‑Village tickets to share high-voltage Hong Kong E‑Prix with all of Hong Kong
Formula Electric Racing (Hong Kong) today announced the latest event details surrounding the ground-breaking FIA Formula E Hong Kong E-Prix. The 2017 Hong Kong E-Prix will launch the fourth season of the global Formula E Championship with a double-header race weekend on 2 and 3 December.
This year’s Hong Kong E-Prix will once again open the new season, and marks the only Formula E race event held in Asia this season. It will also be the region’s first ever double-header, with two distinct Championship races, on Saturday and Sunday.
The Central Harbourfront will once again spectacularly host to the city’s biggest motorsport event, with 20 world-class drivers from 10 international teams weaving their way through one of the most technically challenging circuits on the innovative street racing series – all set against a backdrop of stunning views of the harbour and Hong Kong’s iconic skyline.
Three Grandstands erected along the track’s 555-metre main straight at Lung Wo Road, at Tamar Park and at The Hong Kong Observation Wheel will offer unrivalled views of the racing action for an estimated 14,800 fans over the race weekend – capacity has been increased by 7,800 from last year; non-race entertainment delivery will be centralized in an expanded E-Village Fan Zone.
To share the excitement and innovation of Formula E with the entire community, the organizer has announced that tickets for this year’s E-Villages will be free, through prior registration for a ticket ballot.
The two E-Villages will provide an immersive, non-stop Formula E experience for 20,000 spectators who secure the free tickets as well for Grandstand ticket holders, who enjoy complimentary access to the E-Villages as part of their admission.
Register on or before 30 September via the Hong Kong E-Prix website at ballot.hkformulae.com. A ballot draw will be held on 9 October with winners notified by email the following day. Ballot winners will have until 31 October to claim their E-tickets, otherwise their tickets will be placed into the second ballot. For those who missed the first-round ticket application deadline, there will be a second opportunity to win – final registration closes on the 31 October. Any unclaimed tickets, will be returned into the pool and a final ballot draw will be held on 9 November until 20,000 E-Village tickets are distributed. All those who did not win in Round 1 and those who registered during the month of October will be automatically entered into the second ballot.
A sold-out attendance of over 20,000 fans visited the inaugural Hong Kong E-Prix in 2016. With the expanded E-Villages and three Grandstands, total capacity for the 2017 Hong Kong E-Prix is expected to be 41,000 across the event weekend.
